ABOUTPEOPLE S.A. is one of the largest independent market research and polling companies in Greece. It is also a member of ESOMAR, the World Association of Public Opinion Research (WAPOR), and the Hellenic and European Market Research Associations (SEDEA). It follows quality assurance procedures certified by the Quality Control of Data Collection of Market Research and Polling Companies (PESS).

Why / For what purposes do we process personal data?

The purpose of the panel is the collection (with incentives through a points reward program) and statistical processing and analysis of data relating to the attitudes, perceptions, and behaviors of natural persons (data subjects) for the specific purpose of each survey commissioned by our clients. We process your personal data mainly for:

  • Communicating with you to invite you to participate in online or face-to-face surveys
  • Statistical processing and analysis of anonymized data to draw conclusions according to the specific purpose of each survey
  • Panel management and related services, such as registration, account verification, and redemption of collected points
  • Communication following your contact with aboutpeople’s support team and regarding the exercise of your rights
  • Protecting the interests of the data controller against fraud or behavior contrary to the panel participation terms and the reward program as described here

Aboutpeople, in accordance with its legal and ethical obligations, limits the personal data collected and processed to those appropriate, relevant, and absolutely necessary for the website’s operations as described below.

What is the legal basis for processing your personal data?

Personal data is collected and processed based on your free, specific, explicit, and fully informed consent to create a profile on the website to participate in surveys conducted electronically (self-administered) or face-to-face (focus groups or interviews).

Before giving your consent, you are informed of the collection and processing purpose, data types collected, recipients, and your rights. You may withdraw your consent at any time by sending a simple declaration to info@aboutpeople.gr.

We may also process your personal data where required by EU or national law or where necessary to establish, exercise, or defend legal claims.

Basic principles governing data processing

Aboutpeople adopts and applies the following principles of personal data processing:

  • Personal data is processed lawfully, fairly, and transparently.
  • Personal data is collected for specific, explicit, and legitimate purposes related to the website panel and surveys and is not processed incompatibly with those purposes.
  • Personal data is adequate, relevant, and limited to what is necessary for the purposes of processing.
  • Personal data is stored in a form permitting identification of data subjects only as long as necessary for the purpose collected. Data may be retained longer for research or statistical purposes with appropriate technical and organizational safeguards (such as pseudonymization).

How long do we keep data?

We keep your personal data with your consent for as long as required to fulfill the processing purpose and comply with the Quality Control Regulation (PESS), i.e., participation in surveys and website support as described in the Terms of Use.

  • While you are a panel member, we keep your data until you withdraw your consent.
  • If you request profile deletion but participated in a recent survey, your personal data will be kept for three (3) months for quality control reasons (SEDEA/PESS) and then deleted.
  • If you cease to be a panel member or delete your profile without participating in any survey, we will delete your personal data per GDPR 679/2016.
  • If you participate in the loyalty system, your data is retained until you withdraw consent.
  • For participation in surveys such as Focus Groups, IDI, CAWI, F2F & CATI, data is retained until you withdraw consent. Deletion cannot occur sooner than 3 months as per SEDEA Quality Control Regulation.

IDI: in-depth individual interview

CAWI: quantitative self-administered questionnaire

F2F: quantitative questionnaire face-to-face or assisted

CATI: telephone-assisted quantitative questionnaire

Personal data security

Personal data is processed in a manner ensuring appropriate security, protecting against unauthorized or unlawful processing and accidental loss, destruction, or damage, using appropriate technical and organizational measures (“integrity and confidentiality”).

Data is stored in data centers (cloud datacenters) within the European Union.

We implement suitable technical and organizational measures, such as:

  • Anonymization and encryption of data
  • Annual security audits (Penetration Tests & Vulnerability Assessments)
  • Use of high-security data centers
  • Limited, role-based access for authorized staff only for statistical processing, analysis, and reward delivery
